ESG principles, the English acronym for “Environmental, Social and Governance” and sustainability are expected to be definitely affirmed in 2024. This turning point is marked, first of all, by the definitive application, as per January 1st 2024, of Directive 2022/2464 called “Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive” (“CSRD”) which obliges larger companies, to start with, in reviewing the own corporate governance so that to align it with the sustainability concept provided by the legislation, and in publishing sustainability reports based on the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (“ESRS”).
