European Union Council adopted in May 20t,h, 2025 the 17th lot of sanctions against Russia, reinforcing economic and political pressure in response to the aggression war against Ukraine. This new lot represents one of the most extensive ones ever introduced since the beginning of the conflict, implying actions that target key sectors of the Russian economy, the so-called “shadow fleet” of oil and several international entities involved in supporting the Russian military-industrial system.
In particular, these sanctions stand out for their global reach and the variety of nationalities involved among those sanctioned, affecting not only Russian entities but also establishments from United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Hong Kong, China, Belarus, Israel, Serbia, Vietnam and Uzbekistan.
