That conversation wasn’t a piece of news. Its release? An assail. Contribution by Giorgio Altieri of Tonucci & Partners on Il Riformista

Giorgio Altieri of Tonucci & Partners analyzes on Il Riformista the case regarding the publication on media of the interception of the conversation between Filippo Turetta and his father in prison.

Following the recent Nordio reform with regard to wiretapping, the limits concerning wiretapping have not actually changed but the criteria for publishing certain content have been revised and, probably, if the reform was already effective, that interview would not have been published.

However, the case underlines once again the necessity of a revision regarding the matter, in order to bring wiretaps back into their proper category of “means of evidence research” and not “means of proof”, but above all to limit the huge usage of wiretaps which even take over strictly private areas, such as the conversation in prison between father and son, trampling even on the reputation of a tormented father, apprehensibly unable to deal with such a dramatic and difficult affair.
