(EU) Regulation 2024/1689, the so called “AI Act”, was published in the Official European Union Journal on Friday, 12th July 2024. It is the first global level legislative measure that systematically regulates Artificial Intelligence systems development, market placement and usage.
The new regulation aims at promoting the development and adoption of safe and reliable AI systems in EU sole market by public and private entities while ensuring preservation of EU citizens fundamental rights and at stimulating investment and innovation regarding artificial intelligence in Europe.
