The judgment of European Union Court of Justice, Grand Chamber of July 16th 2020 which declared unlawful the Privacy Shield, has been welcomed by the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS); meanwhile EDPS has affirmed the importance of maintaining a high level personal data protection: data protection is more than a “European” fundamental right – it is a fundamental right widely recognized around the globe.
