Following the round table “Criminal Law Reforms” which took place on February 26th 2025 and was set up by Tonucci & Partners in collaboration with Consenso, this is the first session of post – discussion “Interviews”, opening with the organizer, Giorgio Altieri, partner of Tonucci & Partners, subsequently continuing with Giuseppe Belcastro, President of Rome Criminal Chambe and Vincenzo Comi, Councilor of Rome Bar Association.
As pointed out by Giorgio Altieri, many topics were discussed during the working table attended also by Ministry of Justice Undersecretary, Andrea Delmastro Delle Vedove, such as: split of careers related to judging judiciary and prosecuting judiciary, office abuse, revision of rules necessary to order precautionary measures and, not secondly, the indispensable review of rules regarding statute of limitations and, above all, prisons overcrowding.
Giuseppe Belcastro highlighted the importance of the actual moment of discussion concerning crucial issues in the framework of the ongoing criminal law reforms, focusing on how useful several contributions can provide common solutions to the community benefit through initiatives such as this one organized by Tonucci & Partners.
Vincenzo Comi pointed out that, simultaneously with the ongoing reforms, the Roman legal profession must however remember the importance of concrete solutions to prison overcrowding, also applying the pardons implementation which, beyond the other Governmental measures, proves to be the only solution to restore a situation of legality related to the current conditions of prisoners in jail.
