Contribution by Alessandro Vasta and Giulia Lorandi of Tonucci & Partners on AboutPharma, with the article “Covid-19 and scientific research: in this way the European Union protects personal data”, which highlights the relevant aspects of the “Guidelines on the processing of health data for scientific research purposes in the context of the COVID-19 emergency”, as adopted by the European Data Protection Board in order to balance the needs of research in preventing SARS-CoV-2 epidemic spread and the protection of individuals’ fundamental rights and freedoms.
