Giorgio Altieri of Tonucci & Partners assisted Cagliari Calcio in defining the settlement agreement that puts an end to the long dispute with Quartu Sant’Elena Municipality regarding “Is Arenas” stadium.
The affair began in 2013, when the Municipality granted to the football club the usage of the former municipal stadium area for its renovation and for starting up the new facility. However, following a judicial investigation and a certain number of misunderstandings between the parties, the facility was used only on few occasions, often behind closed doors or with limited capacity.
“We are pleased to have contributed to a solution that puts an end to this troubled affair,” stated Giorgio Altieri, “with this agreement, a case that has kept us bus ever since it became complicated, first in administrative proceedings, then in criminal proceedings and thus in civil proceedings, is over. The regret of a missing solution to safeguard ‘Is Arenas’ facility still remains, but obviously the only possibility was to close up every issue without further disputes. I hope Quartu community finds a solution to positively use that area for sports and that Cagliari Calcio inaugurates the new stadium as soon as possible given the team that represents all of Sardinia and to which I will always be emotionally connected as an acquired fan.”
