The working group “AI, data and operating models for a more efficient justice system serving the citizens” organized by SAP in collaboration with Consenso Europa and hosted by Tonucci & Partners at its Rome office last Thursday, February 12th 2026, was an opportunity for institutional representatives, legal professionals, technology experts as well as public and private sectors stakeholders to meet and discuss the contribution artificial intelligence and data-driven models offer in improving the justice system efficiency.
Giorgio Altieri of Tonucci & Partners pointed out the importance of the related ongoing institutional interchange, emphasizing that technology should not be opposed, but accepted and appreciated by correctly using it as a support tool, not as a substitution of professional work. Issues regarding training, transparency and awareness in using AI are crucial during this process.
Alessandro Graziani, President of Rome Bar Association, highlighted how Artificial Intelligence represents a significant challenge for the legal profession, but also a potential productivity call-up, provided it is managed in a competent and responsible way.
Giuseppe Belcastro, President of Rome Criminal Bar Association, drew the attendees’ attention to the threats AI might represent in criminal proceedings, underlining the necessity to neutralize them through awareness, integrity and professional diligence and accuracy. While acknowledging AI utility and advantages in rapidly managing large amounts of data, he reiterated that strategic and decision-making choices must continue to be exclusive authority of the professional.
